The Accommodation

Caves House Hotel is a heritage-listed iconic hotel known for its vibrant atmosphere. The hotel rooms are beautifully refurbished with some overlooking the extensive gardens. All rooms are equipped with  televisions, small fridge, Foxtel, free WIFI and a guest laundry. Caves House Apartments are located adjacent to the hotel.  All apartments have lounge rooms, kitchenettes and balconies/veranda overlooking the extensive gardens.

Originally built in 1903 by the Government of Western Australia, it provided accommodation for visitors to the newly opened caves nearby.

Famous for Live Music Sessions, Caves House Hotel & Apartments Yallingup provides and ideal venue for locals and visitors to mingle in our beer garden and enjoy live music in the summer months. Caves House prides themselves on being able to serve up a great experience for everyone; families, couple, solo travellers, locals, or visitors.

The Full Itinerary

Day 1 - 26th OCTOBER 2022


Arrive into Yallingup anytime, Check in will be available at Caves House from 3pm however feel free to arrive earlier and leave your luggage with reception.

Free time to explore the hotel and surrounds. 

It's time to kick this adventure off! This afternoon we have a certified wine maker joining to teach us all about the local area and wines the you will be enjoying throughout this amazing tasting experience.  Of course we will also have a grazing board full of gourmet delights to start our Gourmet Adventure off right!

Day 2 - 27Th OCTOBER 2022


This morning we will meet at the hotel reception for our transfer to Rustico at Hay Shed Hill.

Head Chef Mike McAllister will be taking us on an international food adventure and showing us how to create some delicious Rustico inspired dishes.


Over 2 and a half hours, he will have us cooking, learning and feasting on culinary delights and knowledge. We will learn how to shuck oysters, make scallop ceviche, create perfect pork crackle, enjoy jamon tasting and paella making.

Its a cooking and eating school with a few vinos along the way!

After we have finished at Rustico we will head just next door to the Hay Shed Hill Cellar door where we will enjoy a tasting of their beautiful wines looking over the stunning vineyard.


On our way back to Caves House we will make a couple of stops to pick up some of the gorgeous produce of the southwest to take home.

This evening Josh from Koomal Dreaming will take us on an experience to remember forever.


We will begin with a short guided bushwalk identifying traditional medicine plants and learning local Noongar knowledge about the region. We will then venture into Ngilgi Cave where the good spirit Ngilgi dwells to hear Josh share some Dreamtime legends with his unique way of storytelling. Here, deep inside the Earth, Josh will also give a mesmerising didgeridoo performance in the stillness of the cave.

We will then enjoy native food tastings and a gourmet bbq campfire dinner in a private bush setting.

After dinner, we will be taken back to the hotel where you can enjoy a drink at the bar, or head back to your room for the night.

Day 3 - 28Th OCTOBER 2022

This morning we are heading off to Wildwood Valley Cooking School. Here we will embark on a Taste of Tuscany with the team at Wildwood Valley in an amazing hands on class.

After the class we will enjoy a 5 course lunch to celebrate the dishes we have created.

Today's Class will become our Home for Dinner Menu for when we visit the Ronald McDonald House back in Perth.


After our feast we will meander back to Caves House, popping into the delisioud Yallingup Cheese Company for a tasting (If you can fit it in!) and maybe take home some delicious cheeses to pair with the freshly baked bread at our next stop, Yallingup Wood Fired Bread.


From 5.30pm - 8.30pm tonight you can wander through the twilight markets at Caves House where you can explore a variety of local producers and enjoy live local musicians. Tonight you have the option to purchase dinner at the hotel, head out with some new friends or just relax at the hotel and enjoy your local produce.

Day 4 - 29Th OCTOBER 2022

Take the morning off! Breakfast is available for purchase at the hotel or onsite cafe..


For those who would like to join us, we will be heading off on a walk to explore a section of the picturesque Cape to Cape Track.


This afternoon you will have free time to relax by the beach, visit one of the regions wonderful galleries, book in for a massage at one of the nearby day spas or go for a little shop at some of Dunsborough’s beautiful boutiques.


Tonight it's time to get dressed up! We are off to the award winning Yarri Restaurant....a devine 3 course dinner with wine awaits you. Yarri focuses on highlighting some of Western Australia’s best ingredients. Supporting local farmers with an interest in ethical and sustainable practises.

Day 5 - 30Th OCTOBER 2022

Our wonderful adventure comes to an end today but not before one last food experience... join us on Caves House's gorgeous terrace, overlooking the gardens for a beautiful brunch send off!

Check Out is at 10am, however Caves House will happily store your luggage until you're ready to head home.

We also have options for late check out and for extending your time in the South West with discounted rates.

By coming on this Gourmet Adventure, you will be making a difference to the lives of many West Australian families by helping us support Ronald McDonald House; a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children and their families through their Home for Dinner program.


Ronald McDonald House Nedlands gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. Our House is a warm and supportive home-away-from-home for families of children travelling to the Perth’s Children’s Hospital for treatment.

You will make a difference just by coming on the tour, however we will also be offering the opportunity to use what we learn at Wildwood Valley Cooking School to cook a meal for the families staying the house.

If you wish to get involved further, we will also have an external fundraiser that we would love you to be a part of, as well as a collection of necessary items that we can take to the house on our Home for Dinner cooking day.
